For the past seven years, NSU has hosted the Holocaust Reflection Contest as a way to ensure today’s generation does not forget the lessons of the past. You may wonder why this is the sixth annual awards ceremony – that’s because last year’s was canceled due to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Fast forward 12 months and we can now conduct the ceremony online via Zoom.

The goal of the Holocaust Reflection Contest is to allow students to express their feelings and understanding of the genocide that took place during World War II either by visual art, digital storytelling or the written word. The program has been gaining more and more interest and this year there were a record number of student entries. Students from 23 of the state’s 67 counties participated in this year’s contest. The breakdown is as follows:
