NSU Molecular Evolutionary Biologist Provides Insight Into Study of Lobster Genome

Jose Lopez, Ph.D.

Who doesn’t like lobsters? Especially with some melted butter?

But there’s more to these crustaceans than just a delicious meal, and a new study sequenced the animal’s genome to help reveal their secrets. On such secret – lobsters don’t seem to get any form of cancer.

Jose Lopez, Ph.D., a molecular evolutionary biologist in NSU’s Halmos College of Arts and Sciences, was asked to provide comment and review of the study, which appeared in the latest edition of Science Magazine.

You can read the study, and Dr. Lopez’s comments, ONLINE.
