Recently, a team of research scientists that included NSU’s Mahmood Shivji, Ph.D., released their findings after, for the first time, they sequenced the genome of the great hammerhead and shortfin mako shark. Their findings provided more insight into the evolution of these apex predators and that they are in greater need of protection and intervention than previously thought.
