Recently NSU President and CEO Dr. George Hanbury contributed an item to the South Florida Sun Sentinel’s weekly SS100, where community leaders can share their thoughts in a Letter to the Editor. Dr. Hanbury’s most recent contribution related to the issue of children being left behind in vehicles during the hot summer – and appears below:
“Summertime is here. Time for beach days, barbecues and fun with family and friends. But it’s also time when we need to be aware of when we have small children in the car. Every year we hear stories of children being left in hot cars with tragic results. These deaths are 100 percent preventable, and I implore everyone who cares for children and transports them in their vehicles to do whatever it takes to ensure you don’t become a statistic. Leave something valuable in the back with your child so you don’t forget to check. Let’s keep our children safe.”
