Nova Southeastern University (NSU), home of the Sharks, is making a big splash with the opening of its new Tampa Bay Regional Campus – and you are invited! Below is information so you can plan on attending and covering this seminal event:

 

WHO:     Tampa Bay residents and philanthropists Drs. Kiran C. and Pallavi Patel, Nova Southeastern University President Dr. George Hanbury, elected officials and other area dignitaries

WHERE:      NSU’s Tampa Bay Regional Campus, 3400 Gulf to Bay Boulevard (intersection at Dr. Kiran C. Patel Blvd.)

 

WHEN:      10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, September 14

  • 10:30 a.m. – noon: Inside Presentation
  • Noon-1 p.m.: Outside Presentation that Includes U.S. SOCOM
  • Approx. 1:30 p.m. – Press Conference
  • 1-2 p.m.: Tours of New Facility

WHY:     Through a partnership between NSU and the Drs. Kiran C. and Pallavi Patel Family Foundation, a dream is about to become a reality.

For many years, Dr. Kiran C. Patel had a dream of starting his own college of medicine. After meeting with NSU President Dr. George Hanbury, the decision was made to join forces. The result is a state-of-the-art, 311,000 square-foot campus that will provide unparalleled educational opportunities for students in the Tampa Bay/Clearwater area. It will serve as the new branch site for the university’s Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine, which will enroll 150 students each fall in Clearwater (in addition to 250 each fall in Fort Lauderdale).

With the start of the fall 2019 semester, NSU holds the honor of being the largest educator of doctors in Florida through its D.O. and M.D. colleges. Joining the first D.O. class at the new campus will be students from the Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences and Ron and Kathy Assaf College of Nursing programs, as well as students in psychology, education, and more.

As part of the ribbon-cutting celebration, various dignitaries from the Tampa Bay/Clearwater area have been invited. In addition, a special presentation of the U.S., Florida and NSU flags will be made by members of United States Special Operations Southern Command – be sure to “look up” to see their high-flying delivery, which is sure to be an outstanding photo/video opportunity.
