FORT LAUDERDALE/DAVIE, Fla. – Renee Venezia, Ed.D., MBA, M.S., SPHR, interim vice president for human resources at Nova Southeastern University (NSU), has been appointed vice president for human resources, effective immediately.

Venezia has more than 20 years of experience and credentials in human resources executive leadership, administration, information systems, and employment law.

Formerly NSU’s executive director of human resource administration and workforce strategies, she was appointed interim vice president in November 2024. She has led key hires and process improvement efforts and worked with Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) to manage and coordinate their analysis and report on ways to streamline and strengthen the university’s approach to human resources, from operational structures and strategies to processes, services, and support models.

“Renee has been a key contributor to the NSU community for the past 16 years,” said NSU President and Chief Executive Officer Harry K. Moon, M.D. “Her institutional knowledge, trusted relationships, and unique skill set will help us develop a human resource organization our university deserves—and requires—as we become Florida’s top private research university, expand our clinical entities, and become a leader in climate science data to help foster the ocean economy.

“We will continue to work with Pricewaterhouse to support Renee and her team as we implement strategic initiatives to enhance the efficiencies and effectiveness of our human resource organization. Our ability to recruit, support, and retain a talented and productive workforce of faculty, researchers, healthcare providers, administrators, and staff is the university’s greatest investment—and our greatest asset.”

Venezia joined the university as manager of human resources information systems in 2009, advancing to become managing director in 2013, and executive director in 2015. Before her appointments at NSU, she was manager of human resources information systems, administration, and training at the California State University at Northridge.

“I’m looking forward to partnering with President Moon and the executive leadership team to begin implementing the strategic initiatives we’ve identified over the past few months,” Venezia said. “Based on the teamwork we’ve built in our division and across the colleges and units, we’ve been seeing the benefits of a more collaborative, data-driven, and integrated approach to human resource management. This will help us navigate today’s changing landscape in higher education and leverage strategic opportunities for the university moving forward.”

Venezia has four degrees from NSU: an Ed.D. in organizational leadership from the Fischler College of Education and School of Criminal Justice, MBA from the H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship, M.S. in employment law from the Shepard Broad College of Law, and bachelor’s degree from the former Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences.
