Free Series Via Zoom, Open to Entire South Florida Community
WHO: Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) Lifelong Learning Institute and Halmos College of Arts and Sciences
WHAT: New monthly community/intergenerational lecture series “Civics and Democracy.” The series is free and open to the community.

WHERE: Online via Zoom
WHEN/WHY: This new, free lecture series to be hosted by Charles Zelden, Ph.D., a professor of history and politics and the co-director of NSU’s Council for Dialogue and Democracy. Zelden is a widely known expert in the areas of American politics, voting and democracy.
The first Zoom of the series will focus on the mechanics of voting. It will discuss past and current voting methods including a discussion on the Electoral College and Ranked Choice Voting. The full schedule is as follows:

More about Charles Zelden, Ph.D. – He is a professor of History and Political Science (with a specialty in voting rights, election law, Civil Rights and judicial politics) at NSU, teaching courses in history, political science and legal studies. He has been a member of the NSU faculty since 1993 – from 2003-05 he served as the Chair for the history major, as well as the lead faculty member for the College’s Intro to American Government class.
