Annual Event Honors South Florida Business Leaders
FORT LAUDERDALE/DAVIE, Fla. –Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship (HCBE) is pleased to announce it will be inducting three South Florida business leaders into its Entrepreneur and Business Hall of Fame.
This year NSU will be honoring Don Campion, President, Banyan Air Service; David Henshall, CEO, Citrix; and Maureen Shea, co-founder and CEO, Right Management Florida/Caribbean.
“These leaders embody what the H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame stands for, and I am thrilled we are honoring them this year,” said Dr. George Hanbury, NSU’s President and CEO. “Wayne Huizenga cast a very large shadow across South Florida and his influence continues even today. He was a friend of NSU, and we continue to honor his legacy with our Hall of Fame.”
Last year the ceremony, like everything else in 2020, had to shift to the online forum. This year, however, the event will take place live, in-person at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, October 28 at the Signature Grand, 6900 W State Rd 84, Davie. Those attending are strongly encouraged to continue following all COVID-19 protocols including wearing face masks whenever possible.
Below please find brief biographical information on this year’s honorees:
Donald Campion
Donald Campion, President, Banyan Air Service
Donald Campion is President of Banyan Air Service, a 24-hour, full-service fixed base operation (FBO) providing a variety of services such as aircraft maintenance, structural modifications, installation, services, sales, flight training, and charter services. The company is located at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport.
Campion was born a missionary child in Nigeria, West Africa. As a boy, he attended a western Protestant American boarding school. After high school, Campion moved to Toronto, Canada to attend Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology, a four-year program of aviation courses that included commercial, multiengine pilot’s license, followed by one year of aircraft maintenance at Centennial College in Toronto.
In 1979, Campion moved to South Florida and was contracted as a co-pilot for a small charter operation flying primarily to the Bahamas. As a charter pilot, he realized there was opportunity for a maintenance facility to service the aircraft he was flying. Campion began servicing aircraft at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, establishing Banyan Air Service from one small hangar, which has grown and now has over 160 teammates.
Campion is active in the South Florida community. He is currently president of the Florida Executive Airport (FXE) Association and a long-time member of the FBO #1 20 Group, an association of independently owned aviation services company peers. He previously served on the National Air Transportation Association Board from 1999-2002 and on the Everglades University aviation program advisory committee. Campion has won several awards over his career, including, but not limited to:
- Florida Aviation Trades Association Entrepreneurial Excellence Hall of Fame (2009);
- Junior Achievement South Florida Business Hall of Fame (2011);
- Sun Sentinel Company’s Excalibur Award, Small Business Leader, Broward County (2011);
- Greater Miami Aviation Association’s Edward V. Rickenbacker Award;
- Florida Executive Airport Association Achievements in Community Excellence Award (2018); and
- Florida Executive Airport Association Distinguished Service Award (2019).
David Henshall
David Henshall, President and Chief Executive Officer, Citrix,
Citrix is an American corporation that produces software designed to facilitate secure access to applications and content. David Henshall was appointed to his position in 2017.
In his role, Henshall is responsible for overseeing all business functions, go-to-market activities, attainment of the company’s strategic, operational, and financial goals, and is the primary management interface with the Board of Directors.
Henshall joined Citrix as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 2003. He was appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 2006. Henshall was named as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer in 2011. In addition, he served as acting Chief Executive Officer and President of Citrix in 2013 and 2014. Prior to joining Citrix, he served as Chief Financial Officer of Rational Software Corporation, a software company acquired by IBM Corporation in 2003, and held various finance positions at Cypress Semiconductor and Samsung.
Henshall is a member of the Board of Directors of Citrix and New Relic. He previously served on the Board of Directors of LogMeIn, Inc, a publicly traded remote access and remote software company. Henshall holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Arizona and an MBA from Santa Clara University. He was a 2020 South Florida Business Journal Ultimate CEO Award honoree, which recognizes the tri-county region’s top CEOs.
Maureen Shea
Maureen Shea, Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Right Management Florida/Caribbean
Right Management provides outplacement services for privately and publicly owned companies throughout Florida and the Caribbean Region. Maureen Shea previously served as its Chief Financial Officer.
A prominent insurance and HR executive before joining Right Management, Shea was director of recruiting for Mass Mutual Life Insurance Company and Lincoln National Life. Her undergraduate degree is from Kean College in New Jersey.
Shea is active in the community and currently serves on the Board of Trustees for St. Thomas University, on the board for Women Executive Leadership, as a board member of the Institute for Advanced Catholic Studies at the University of Southern California, and is a Leadership Broward Foundation alumna. She previously served on the Board of Trustees for Holy Cross Hospital and on the finance committee of United Way of Broward. Recognized for helping shape and support Florida’s HR profession, Shea is a past president of the Human Resource Association of Broward County and was inducted into its Hall of Fame. She has also won several other awards of over her career, including, but not limited to:
- Conference of Community and Justice Silver Medallion Award;
- Enterprising Women of the Year Award;
- Florida Diversity Council’s Glass Ceiling Award;
- Girl Scouts Lead the Way Award;
- Junior Achievement of South Florida Business Hall of Fame;
- South Florida Business & Wealth Magazine Lifetime Achievement, Excellence in HR Award (2019);
- South Florida Business Journal’s CFO of the Year Award;
- South Florida Business Journal’s Woman Owned Business of the Year Award;
- Thomas University Bobcat Community Award;
- The Commonwealth Institute Top Women Led Business Award; and
- The United Way Magnolia Award.
