FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University (NSU) announces that Leonard Pounds, M.S. has been named the university’s vice president of Clinical Operations. As the VP of Clinical Operations, he will oversee all clinic operations, including the revenue cycle. Mr. Pounds will work to enhance the patient experience at NSU’s 39 centers where 220,000 patients visit annually. In addition, he will work closely with NSU’s deans, strengthening our academic programs and ensuring that research opportunities are readily available for all academic centers.

I have the utmost confidence that he will lead and guide the growth of this important aspect of the university, giving our clinical operation a distinctive edge.”
Mr. Pounds joined NSU in 2007 and has held various roles in the Office of Innovation and Information Technology, most recently serving as the Deputy Chief Information Officer. In this position, he provided leadership and operational planning, overseeing the evaluation, deployment and management of current and future IT systems.
Prior to starting his civilian IT career, Mr. Pounds served in the U.S. Navy as an Information Systems Technician Second-Class Petty Officer (ESWS). His active duty deployments included Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Mr. Pounds received numerous awards of distinction including three Navy & Marine Corps Achievement medals, a Navy Unit Commendation medal, a Navy Good Conduct medal, a National Defense Service medal, a Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary medal, a Global War on Terrorism Service medal and the designation of Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist.

Mr. Pounds is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Information Systems at NSU’s College of Engineering and Computing. He holds a master’s degree from NSU and a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.
