NSU Hosts ‘A Day for Children’ Free Community Event Saturday, Oct. 19

FORT LAUDERDALE/DAVIE, FLA. — For more than 20 years, thousands of residents have attended Joe Dimaggio Children Hospital’s – A Day for Children, Nova Southeastern University’s annual health literacy event.

The community gathering provides free and low-cost health and wellness services for children from birth to 16 years of age. Health care education and activities for vision, medical, speech, behavior, and dental health as well as physical and occupational therapy are provided through NSU Health centers.

This year’s A Day for Children will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, from noon to 4 p.m. on NSU’s Fort Lauderdale/Davie Campus.

Local law enforcement and first responders also will be participating in activities throughout the day. NSU’s Alvin Sherman Library staff will be on hand to provide library cards for children and their families. Librarians will share information about the library’s extensive resources on health and wellness.

​Students and faculty from several of NSU’s colleges and centers will provide activities for the children attending this event. Free games, activities, and food will be provided.

Among this year’s partners will be Broward County Libraries, Boys & Girls Club of Broward County, Broward County Sea Turtle Conservation Program, Broward Healthy Start Coalition, Broward County Sheriff’s Office, Feeding South Florida, Flamingo Gardens, Florida Children’s Theatre, Hungry Howie’s Pizza, South Florida Cloggers, and many more.
