NSU Florida President Accepts “Wager” From President of Kansas City University

Wager is on the “Big Game” This Coming Sunday

FORT LAUDERDALE/DAVIE, Fla. – The Big Game is almost here.

When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers face off against the Kansas City Chiefs this coming Sunday, there is more on the line that just the Lombardi Trophy. That’s because Kansas City University president and CEO Dr. Marc B. Hahn has placed a wager on the game against Nova Southeastern University president and CEO Dr. George Hanbury.

“Oh, it’s on,” said Dr. Hanbury. “When Dr. Hahn extended the bet, there was no way I was going to say no. NSU has a big presence in the Tampa Bay area and our students, faculty and staff have a lot of pride, so we are behind the Bucs 100 percent.”

So what’s the wager? If Tampa Bay wins, KCU is going to send Dr. Hanbury $100 worth of world-famous Kansas City barbecue from Jack Stack Barbecue. And what if the Chiefs are victorious? Well, then Dr. Hanbury has to ship $100 worth of internationally renowned Joe’s Stone Crab claws.

“It’s all in good fun, but there’s always a element of pride when you make a wager,” said Dr. Hanbury. “It should be a great game, pitting who many call the G.O.A.T – quarterback Tom Brady – against the league’s heir-apparent Patrick Mahomes.”

Like NSU, Kansas City University has an established College of Osteopathic Medicine program, so it was only natural for their president to reach out to Dr. Hanbury to make the bet. NSU’s Tampa Bay Regional Campus is the second location of its Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine.

You could call it a “Battle of the Doctors.

“It only makes sense that our universities, with two of the finest osteopathic medical schools in the nation, make a little wager on this matchup between the two best teams in the NFL,” said Dr. Hahn. “We may not have an ocean here in the Midwest, but Kansas City pride runs deep on our campus and the city is a sea of red as our team gets ready to #RunItBack for another victory.”

Oh, one more thing – the “losing” university president has to wear a sweatshirt from the “winning” president’s university and post a video online showing him donning the new duds.

May the best team – and university – win!
