WHY: The Southern Strike Battalion, in collaboration with NSU, founded the Army ROTC program in the Fall of 2019. The program’s success was immediate and quickly became the central hub for the entire battalion, where NSU’s Fort Lauderdale/Davie campus began hosting morning physical training, hands-on tactical labs and classroom instruction lead by the Assistant Professor of Military Science and a cadre of distinguished active-duty personnel.
The program, now in its third year, has the honor of hosting the inaugural Commissioning Ceremony where NSU students will repeat the Oath of Office and pin on their 2nd Lieutenant bars – effectively becoming the next class of leaders to embark on a career of service in the United States Army.
Scheduled to speak is special guest Major General Rafael A. Ribas, Deputy Commander for Mobilization and Reserve Affairs, U.S. Southern Command.
