FORT LAUDERDALE/DAVIE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University’s H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship has selected Cherilyn G. Murer, J.D., CRA, founder, president, and chief executive officer of the Murer Group, as the new chair of the college’s Board of Governors.
“Cherilyn’s understanding of the regulatory, strategic, and financial issues facing health care and higher education will serve the college and its students well during these transformational times,” said Dean Andrew Rosman. “I look forward to working with her, and I would like to thank outgoing Chair Paul Sallarulo for his strong leadership and meaningful contributions to the success of our students and community.”
The college’s Board of Governors was established to engage a wide range of leaders in advancing the college’s mission and vision and ultimately develop business leaders and innovators who will make an impact upon graduation.
Murer is a sought-after educator whose focus is on helping her clients navigate the complex regulatory, strategic, and financial issues facing health care today. With a national client base, Murer Consultants represents large multi-hospital health care systems, academic medical centers, and large physician group practices focusing on strategic positioning, consolidation and acquisition, regulatory compliance, and financial management.
“I am thrilled and very appreciative of this honor,” she said. “We will do exciting things together as the College of Business and Entrepreneurship continues to grow in stature and relevance, on and off campus.”
Murer will be this year’s commencement keynote speaker on June 6 for the College of Business and Entrepreneurship and the College of Psychology. She also will receive an honorary degree from NSU.
Murer has long been an active voice in the advancement of quality, cost-effective health care. She received a juris doctor degree with honors from Northern Illinois University and has enhanced her background in law with her previous operational experience as the director of rehabilitation medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
Murer replaces Sallarulo, the president and CEO of Nexera Medical Inc., a developer and distributor of antimicrobial textile products worldwide. Sallarulo has an extensive financial career in capital markets and investment banking, holding senior positions from January 1990 to April 2006 with Raymond James, Wachovia Securities, Prudential, Meridian Capital Markets, and CoreStates Capital Markets.
