Topping Off Ceremony Marks Milestone in New Campus Facility
A “Topping Off” or “Topping Out” ceremony is a builders’ rite traditionally held when the last beam (or its equivalent) is placed atop a structure during its construction. For NSU, that ceremony, which was held Mon., Nov. 19, not only marked a significant milestone in the construction of its new Tampa Bay Regional Campus, it is also a momentous achievement for the university as the countdown to move into the new campus this summer shifts into high gear.
Classes are expected to start in August, 2019. The branch site for the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine will be the largest program at the new regional campus location. Other NSU colleges to offer programs at the new campus will include:
- Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences
- Ron and Kathy Assaf College of Nursing
- Abraham Fischler College of Education
- College of Psychology
The expansion of NSU’s Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine and the construction of the new Tampa Bay Regional Campus are being realized through a commitment from the Drs. Kiran C. and Pallavi Patel Family Foundation, announced in September 2017. It is comprised of a $50 million gift and an additional $150 million investment in real estate and facilities (NSU new Tampa Bay Regional Campus.)
