Deaths from drug overdose will decrease for the first time in three decades. While this seems like great news, experts say the worst is far from over. Jim Hall, an epidemiologist at NSU, said “The opioid crisis is in early remission, yet at high risk of relapse.”
While there is still concern for relapse, this could also be a sign that some methods for fighting overdose are working. An example of this is the increased access to naloxone, which has saved lives in the past. Naloxone is a drug that can reverse the worse effects of drug overdose.
