NSU Expert Asked to Provide Opinion on Scientific Research

Robert Speth, M.A., Ph.D., FAAAS, FAHA

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, many in the scientific community worked tirelessly to determine the cause, develop vaccines and therapies to treat the disease, with the hope of diminishing its long-lasting impacts on human health.  To that end, many researchers published papers taking their colleagues in new directions as they all worked to address the pandemic. But, what if some of the research was wrong? What could the ramifications be for public health?

To that end, NSU professor Robert Speth, M.A., Ph.D., FAAAS, FAHA and his colleague Michael Bader, Ph.D. saw something and chose to say something about a flawed paper that has the potential to adversely affect treatment of COVID-19 patients.  They were invited to provide additional commentary to RetractionWatch.com in the name of promoting awareness of inaccurate publications that pose a threat to both the scientific endeavor and public health.
