Recently, Marriott, which owns Starwood hotels, disclosed that the Starwood guest reservation system had been hacked which resulted in the second biggest corporate data breach in history. Millions of former guests have had their personal information, such as credit card numbers, phone numbers and passport numbers compromised.
Yair Levy, Ph.D., director of the Center for e-Learning Security Research and professor of cybersecurity and information systems at NSU’s College of Engineering and Computing, recently spoke with CNN on what to do if you are affected by the data breach.
Dr. Levy suggests having a credit card specifically dedicated to online shopping because it makes it easier to spot for fraudulent activity and track transactions.
