This summary report is a snapshot of NSU media placements from June through early July 2021. The purpose of this recap is to keep you up-to-date on issues and media reports that involve the university and/or specific departments or centers. For this time period:
- Potential Reach (print and broadcast audiences) of stories related to NSU were circulated to approximately 52.1 million;
- For Unique Visitors Per Month (online audiences globally), the potential viewership was approximately 904 million;
- The estimated advertising value equivalency (AVE) of these stories is $2 million.

Tropical Storm Elsa
With Tropical Storm Elsa’s path putting Florida right in the crosshairs, NSU’s media relations team coordinated messaging with university officials as the decision was made to close two of our campus locations – Tampa Bay and Jacksonville. Information was shared with all media in those markets, with many including the closing and reopening in their storm coverage
Vaccine Announcement / VaxMax
Due to a new Florida law, NSU was unable to maintain its original policy toward full vaccination by August 1, 2021. NSU has since transitioned to its VaxMax Program, which has a goal of having 70%-80% of students self-report they are fully vaccinated (they are not mandated to receive the vaccine.)
